Environmental Education
A Key Part of the
Craighouse School Educational Framework
At Craighouse School, there is an Environmental Education area dedicated to promoting environmental care and raising global awareness about crucial issues such as climate change, resource management, waste, renewable energy, biodiversity, and transportation, among others.
The Environmental Committee, made up of pupils who embody the Craighouse School attributes—caring, proactivity, and responsibility—is committed to service and takes action to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the environment.
As a school, we have significant and impactful initiatives, including the inauguration of the greenhouse and the 'Plant a Tree, Plant a Solution' project.
Additionally, we were selected as finalists in the international 'Guardians of the Climate' competition.
The concept behind this nomination was water efficiency and biodiversity, encompassing the idea of reforesting our local area.

¿HOW WAS ENVIROMENTAL EDUCATION BORN AT CRAIGHOUSE?

In 1998, a group of pupils began organising recycling campaigns and workshops with the support of some teachers, giving life to what was then called the 'Ecogroup'.
In 2013, this group changed its name and became known as the 'Eco Community'. It later evolved into the environmental education programme that exists today.
